Many of you may or may not know my partner Ryan. You may have seen bodybuilding competitions photos of him around Platinum Health Club and Muscle Pump supplement store. Ryan began his lifting career from his late teens. Being a skinny kid growing up, he was the type who could eat whatever he wanted, and never got fat. When he decided that he wanted to build his physique, any and all types of calories he put in his body contributed to his muscles growth. In 2011, I coached Ryan through his first 12 week Metabolic Precision program. He did so with great success, and won and placed at 3 different Bodybuilding shows. After those shows, a baby, a postnatally depressed partner (me), post graduate study and his nursing career took over. He struggled through the next 19 months, eating everything and anything that he wanted and watched as his waistline grew. He was just getting through, day after day, with no structure for his nutrition. Ryan managed to still train, but his old habits settled back in very quickly, and soon enough, he found himself on the couch every night, eating junk foods like potato chips, lollies and ice cream. Fast track to August 2014 – Ryan had his snap point. We had been on a family holiday to Thailand, eaten our weight in Pad Thai and coconut Rice, and even though we had just had a great holiday, we did not feel amazing. We were exhausted, unhappy, and realised what we had both done to our bodies in the last 2 years. Ryan felt quite depressed looking back at his competition photos, and was disappointed in himself. Seeing him upset and self-conscious, I suggested a lifestyle change. Going back to what we knew – Metabolic Precision. We decided in that moment that it was time, and that this was going to be our way of life, for ourselves, and our little one. It was like riding a bike – he knew what he had to do, and just did it. Sunday success days meant that his meals were set for his working week and he just fell back into routine. In fact, Ryan thrived on routine. His training was structured, progressive, and for the first time, he actually enjoyed his I.C.E sessions – training with the awesome Team Citrus I.C.E crew. Here are his results for his first 12 week Metabolic Precision program: Weight week 1: 76.7kg – Weight week 12: 74.9kg (LOST 1.8kg) Body Fat % week 1: 16.03% - Body fat % week 12: 10.82% (LOST 5.21%) Lean body mass week 1: 64.4kg – Lean body mass week 12: 66.8kg (GAINED 2.4kg) Ryan is absolutely ecstatic with his results. He maintained 93% compliance with his meals throughout the whole program, enjoyed all of the food from the MP Cookbible – postworkout pizzas, Eggwhite pancakes, lamb souvlaki, Slow cooked lamb shanks, and loads of colourful and delicious vegetables. And best of all, this time round - he really has established the mindset that Metabolic Precision is a lifestyle, it is NOT difficult to keep up because it is a not a diet – and definitely not just for bodybuilding competitions. He looks forward to looking and feeling amazing all year round.
