Many thank-yous to the folks who came out for yesterdays orchid and wildflower walk. The group was smaller than anticipated, but very enthusiastic and eager to learn. We saw many species of orchids and wildflowers and had a great time enjoying natural Florida. Look for some pictures from our gathering in the upcoming weeks. We saw Scarlet Ladies Tresses Orchids, Grass Pink Orchids, Florida Butterfly Orchids, Jingle Bell Orchids, Greenfly Orchids, Wild Petunia, Frogfruit, Swamp Milkweed, Swamp Pinks, Meadow Beauties, Yellow Milkworts, Orange Bachelors Buttons, Hooded Pitcher Plants, Roundleaf Sundews, Pickerel Weeds, Spanish Moss (in flower), Smooth Wild Pines, Bartrams Wild Pines, Wide-leaved Wild Pine, Cardinal Air Plant, Giant Wild Pine, Shoestring Fern, Royal Fern, Golden Polypody, Resurrection Fern, Small Club Moss, and the various ecosystems - mesic hammock, open wetland, open field environments that support this abundance of wild plants.
