Many thanks for accepting me into the fan club of one of my favorite performers ever. Lon not only is the only actor I know who played all four all-time movie horror monsters--Frankenstein, the Wolf Man (who can forget that), Dracula and the Mummy), but he was a versatile actor as well. He brought a pathos to the Wolf Man that is the primary reason that role endures to this very day and he stands supreme among all the others who played werewolves on the silver screen. We all knew what the fate of Larry Talbot was going to be and the tormented soul he was, all thanks to the empathy projected by Mr. Chaney. No wonder he called the Wolf Man my baby. Yet, he had memorable roles in High Noon and played Chingaschook (spelling approx.) in Hawkeye and the Last of the Mohicans and was the finest Lenny in the various versions of Of Mice and Men that Ive ever had the privilege of seeing. Talk about dramatic range. He also had a comic touch in films that showed off his acting chops as well. Im delighted to see his memory preserved in forums such as this one. Again, thanks for allowing me to share this experience with you.
