Marcella Ann McDaniel Dawson age 72 of Connersville passed away Thursday March 13, 2014 at Reid Hospital in Richmond. She was born December 14, 1941 in Rushville the daughter of the late Vernal McDaniel and Hazel Cordray Bennington. Marcella lived her life in Connersville and was a 1962 graduate of Alquina High School. During her life she attended the First Baptist Church and the Everton United Methodist Church. She was involved with her family activities and assisted her husband as a Cub Scout leader as well as being a 4H leader with the Harrison Posey Peppers and Harrison Hurricanes for several years. She had worked for over 20 years with the Fayette County School Corporation as a lunch aid. In her earlier years she had also worked at Bills Drive In. Marcella was married on August 14, 1965 in Connersville to John Paul Dawson. He passed away Sept. 16, 2007. She is survived by her daughter Patricia Ann Dawson of Connersville and her son Joseph Paul Dawson and his fiancé Kathren Piper of Connersville. She is survived by 3 brothers Gilbert McDaniel of Florida; Charles McDaniel & wife Sue of Connersville; and James Bennington of Connersville as well as two sisters Marilyn Russell of Connersville; and Wanda Ayres of South Carolina. Marcella has 7 grandchildren, Christopher Paul Dawson; Matthew Alan Dawson; Joshua Paul Dawson; Shaylei Ann Dawson; Alexis Ann Dawson; Ashley Dobberstein; and Marc Dobberstein; one great grandchild, Carson Gene Dawson, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband she is preceded in death by a grandson Garrick Lee Dawson; her step father Roland Bennington; 3 brothers Norman McDaniel, Donald Bennington, and Nelson McDaniel and a sister Martha Russell. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday March 18, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. at Urban-Winkler Funeral Home. Burial will be in Dale Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Monday from 4-8 P.M.
