March 3, 2014 I adopted a dog. A female labrador of about two years old. Called Princessa. In the 8 months we have been together we developed a bond. We got to know each other very well and established a very nice balance in living. Yesterday I had an appointment and of course Princessa came along. The friend I met has two dogs himself. But as usual, Princessa being a female and my friend’s dogs being males, there was no problem. I had to do some business with my friend and was totally focused on this activity. When finished I called Princessa but she didn’t appear. The two male dogs were there, but not my labrador. I called her repeatedly and then thought she might have returned to the car that was parked about 5 minutes walk away. But she wasn’t there either… Again I looked all over the place and called her, but she didn’t show up. My friend promised me to bring her when she returned. But we were expecting she would walk home because she knows the area. We are now 24 hours after her disappearance and she seemed to have vanished. Several people are involved trying to find her but to no avail. One theory is that she went back to the road to walk home and that she was picked up by a passing car. It is true that Princessa is a very beautiful dog. But another friend who was working at the entrance road of where I went, had not seen her pass by to get on the road to my place. It is therefore a mystery where she is and what happened. To walk for a dog from my friends house to my place is maybe 20 minutes. She knows how to get back. So something must have happened, but what ?? It is a deep unpleasant experience to have a dog missing. There is a constant feeling of missing the companion. In the night, a few times, I went outside to check if she had returned. Meanwhile the mind produces all kinds of films starring Princessa being abducted, tortured, attacked and suffering. Where is my dog ? Will she ever come back ??
