Marcus Daniel cops Tobago Cricketer of the Year award C&B United allrounder and captain Marcus Daniel won the prestigious Tobago Cricket Association Cricketer of the year award at last Saturdays presentation ceremony at the Works conference Room. Daniel pipped Club Crusoes Leron Lezama to win his fourth such title in six years. The right handed bowling allrounder tallied 625 runs in the league season and grabbed 57 wickets - the most in the league. Lezama scored a mammoth 911 runs in the season including five centuries. However Daniel who led his club to their sixth title in eight years won the approval of the selection committee. Meantime, Anthony Providence, Joel Boyce and Shaquille Duncan made up the five senior cricketers of the year while Dejorn Charles, Davian Shanghie, Gereeb Louis, Joshua James and Omarley James were named junior cricketers of the year. The Association also recognized five individuals for sterling contributions made to Tobagos cricket. They were Alston Daniel, Envis Williams, Maurice Murray, Clint Yorke and Miriam Perierra. The function was attended by several members of the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board including president Azzim Bassarath and general secretary Arjoon Ramlal who brought greetings on behalf of the board.
