Marisol Vasquez: I woke up this morning and found that my car has been impounded. There is a construction area where I live and I forgot to move my car. I was pretty much passed out on my pain meds. Its going to take $240 to get car out when they just took it an hour ago! I could file a claim but they charge $48 per day for storage fees. I have the money but its money I saved up for me and my kids for the next upcoming months (I lost my job almost a year ago when I became sick). I told the lady on the phone that I could prove to them that I have a limited income and that I get food stamps for my family. I asked for a payment plan and I was told the City of Long Beach doesnt have a program like that. What an unscrupulous practice! Now I know that I should of moved the car. I just think that the fees are outrageous and there should be a payment plan arrangement for those who are low income. Im pretty much going to fork out the money that would have been for Septembers rent for my family!
