Matt Taft - Did a little thinking on knives you might be interested in. Youll figure out what you like and dont like as you get more time in. Heres some stuff to think about. 1: Get cheap and functional. Youre gonna break and lose them. Nothing unique, nothing custom. 2: I liked as little non-metal on my knives as possible. Rubber, plastic...all that stuff breaks down in salt water. You want SOME insulation (first time your knife sticks to bare skin after being the water, youll know why...) but it shouldnt be all plastic/rubber grip. 3: HOLES. When you drop a knife youre using, you want that knife to go straight to the bottom with minimal tumbling so you can find it (though you DID remember to tie off your knife to your chest harness, right? Another good reason to have holes.) 4: Doesnt need to be any bigger than youll use. Otherwise its just added weight, and more chance it breaks. So to that end, consider: scubapro/en-US/USA/accessories/knives/products/mako-stainless-knife.aspx scubapro/en-US/USA/accessories/knives/products/x-cut.aspx ebay/itm/One-Piece-Stainless-Divers-Dive-Knife-w-sheath/390667560913?_trksid=p2047675.c100011.m1850&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D27538%26meid%3Dd6d8a3fde5ed455b96df6078a7df4c2a%26pid%3D100011%26prg%3D11353%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D10%26sd%3D150671813974 (True story on this one: I bought these by the dozen. Cheap as hell, good weight, lockable sheath, fell straight down. Someone needed a knife, I gave it to them. Easy.) Just my two cents. Find something that works for you.
