Maybe one of the big reasons I love the World Cup is that its so international. Because of that, its a great opportunity to connect with friends who descend or who are actually from a participating country. Por ejemplo, Hector (Mexico), Alby & Patricia (Ecuador), Beth (Netherlands), Anaïs (France), Paula & Gingi (Brazil), Alan (Italy), Chebo (Honduras), Terry (Greece), Xavi (Spain). 9 countries out of 32, not bad. Who else am I forgetting? I could also bring up people with close associations to certain participating countries: Tara (Uruguay), Stephan & Megan (Germany), Shona (Nigeria), Evan (Ghana), Carla & Michael (Japan), Anna (South Korea), Maggie & Mark (England), Tim (Costa Rica), Michael & Brian (France, again).
