Mesquite Police are searching for a man accused of bilking an elderly woman out of $1,000 by posing as a TXU worker. On June 3, a man who identified himself as “Steve” knocked on the complainant’s door and identified himself as an electrical worker for TXU, and that he was there to repair a dangerous electrical problem at the rear of her house. “Steve”, accompanied by two other men in a maroon pick-up truck, went to the rear of the house and returned a short time later, telling the resident that the problem was repaired. When the resident said she could not pay the $13,000 repair bill from “Steve”, he accepted a $1,000 check and the three men left the area. The victim realized she had been victimized and contacted TXU and her bank. Mesquite Police were able to identify the suspect in this case as 42 year-old Steven Cranford. Detectives have obtained a felony theft warrant for Cranford with a $100,000 bond. In addition to the Mesquite case, Cranford is also wanted for a string of felonies in other locales: Financial Exploitation Elderly- Webster CO SO, MO Financial Exploitation Elderly- Audrain CO SO, MO Theft State Jail Felony- Houston CO SO, TX Probation Violation- Seminole CO SO, GA Burglary of Building- Van Zandt CO SO, TX Anyone seeing suspect Steven Cranford is asked to immediately contact the police. crimeweb.net/details.asp?id=19249
