Methodist Rehabilitation Center and Paralyzed Veterans of America will sponsor a free boccia training clinic on Nov. 15. Boccia is a precision ball sport similar to the Italian game of bocce that was developed to be played by persons with physical disabilities. It has been a Paralympic sport since 1984. “We are delighted to welcome Jeff Jones, High Performance Director of Team USA Boccia, who will conduct the clinic and supply the necessary equipment for this event,” said Methodist Rehab Therapeutic Recreation Director Ginny Boydston. “It’s a win-win for all involved.” The clinic is open to all interested participants with physical disabilities ages 13 and above. All military and veterans with physical disabilities are also encouraged to attend. The clinic will be held from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Nov. 15 in the BankPlus conference room on the second floor of Methodist Rehabilitation Center, located at 1350 E. Woodrow Wilson Avenue in Jackson. For more information, please contact Methodist Rehab’s Therapeutic Recreation Director Ginny Boydston at 601-364-3566 or by emailing triclimb@aol.
