Michael: Day 3 of chemo is a wrap. We are back at home. THANK YOU for your prayers to unclog his line. When we got to clinic this morning they were able to pull blood no problem. June and I were relieved we didnt have to find out what next if it didnt work. I was on clinic duty today while June ran some errands. They give him fluids for an hour, than the chemo over an hour, then more fluids. Grant was on the bed watching t.v. and I was in a chair on the laptop checking some emails, when all of the sudden a masked weirdo jumps out of nowhere and I get shot in the face with silly string! I look up after I practically threw my laptop across the room and I see a fully costumed spider man in front of me. SCARED the heck out of me! I was speechless and in shock. Grant was not speechless....it scared the chemo right out of him and he was screaming bloody murder! You would think he would be screaming for joy when a fully costumed spider man appeared, but not in this case. I was still confused as to who it was, and all of the nurses were behind him looking at my screaming kid feeling bad for letting this masked man into the clinic. When the masked man finally removed his head garb....it was Uncle James! He had stealthily tried to surprise us today! As soon as Grant realized who it was he stopped screaming and wanted the spider man mask and gloves and promptly put them on and would not let them go. He looked like a little alien. It was pretty funny. Good times at the chemo clinic. Today we met another child at clinic getting chemo from Warner Robbins, GA who has been doing chemo since he was 7 months old for a type of brain tumor. He is now 7 years old. 6+ years of chemo. Really puts things into perspective. This sweet boy has not had a normal childhood like the rest of my children have had, or most of your children. No one knows how long this road is that we are on, but I trust that family would do chemo for another 6 years to keep their son alive. The strength of the people that have walked this road before us, and all of you, help give us strength to endure to the end. One step at a time. One prayer at a time. #graceforgrant T-Shirt Update: 250+ shirts have been sold. Dont forget to listen to the Childrens Care-A-Thon on Thursday, July 31st at 9:10 AM.
