Midnight freakout. The cats and I are in the den, and I was grading, when we heard someone outside, trying to get in the house. They tried the storm door on the den entry, just a few paces from where i am sitting. Then I think they tried the other front door, off the living room. They came back and tried that door again. Then I was convinced I needed to call the police. I called the dispatch line and he sent out two cars, three officers, but before they got here, I turned on the light at the peak of the roof on the west side of the den. Whoever it was left before the police got here, which took less than three minutes. Thank God for the Mt. Pleasant police. They are always fast and always prepared. They checked all around the house, including the deck/catio, and I talked to one officer, who told me there had been incidents in the area recently. I am glad I was out here, glad I had locked the storm door earlier. Whoever was out there was unaware I was sitting right here because I have no windows out to that side of this room. I always have the TV on so low that no one outside could possibly hear it. The officer told me they would send cars by the house periodically tonight. Im glad its over. I hope it stays over.
