Minister Ngafuan To Highlight Liberia’s Ebola Crisis At UNGA Monday MONROVIA, September 29 (LINA) - Liberias Foreign Minister Augustine Kpehe Ngafuan is expected to continue the Liberian Governments plea for increased and speedy response to the Ebola crisis at Mondays session of the ongoing high-level general debate at the United Nations. According to a foreign ministry press release, Minister Ngafuan, who is heading the Liberian Government delegation attending the 69th UN General Assembly in New York, will deliver the address on behalf of President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf . The release said he will also outline the Liberian Governments efforts so far to curb the spread of the virus. Last week, President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf told world leaders attending a UN High Level Meeting on Response to the Ebola Virus via video-link from Monrovia that Liberia is faced with the great challenge of preventing a projection of a worst case scenario. The scenario puts the number of persons who may die in Liberia from the Ebola virus disease in the hundreds of thousands. She asked the international community to ramp up the response in line with the scale and speed of the virus. Prior to the Liberian Leaders speech, US President Barack Obama had urged more global support towards the Ebola fight in West Africa, noting that there was still a huge gap between the current global response and what is needed to stop the spread of the virus that continues to claim the lives of thousands of people, particularly in Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone.
