Miqati Launches Dawlati, Calls for New Effective Cabinet Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Miqati expressed hope on Tuesday that PM-designate Tammam Salam would be able to form an effective government that brings together all factions to face the current challenges. In remarks during the launching ceremony of an e-services portal called Dawlati, Miqati hoped for “the quick formation of a new all-embracing and effective cabinet to confront the many challenges that our nation is facing.” He said the new government should also “continue in implementing projects that benefit all citizens.” The ceremony that was held at the Grand Serail was attended by Minister of State for Administrative Reform Mohammed Fneish and several other ministers in the resigned cabinet in addition to General Security chief Maj. Gen. Abbas Ibrahim and top civil servants. Miqati hoped that the portal dawlati.gov.lb would be an opportunity for citizens to carry out their transactions online and to follow them up through the site or their mobile phones. “We hope that this first step … would lead towards the modernization of the administration,” he said.
