Modi can’t change disputed status of JK: Shabir Shah ‘Kashmir internationally accepted issue’ Srinagar, July 19: During his house arrest Hurriyat Conference Jammu Kashmir leader Shabir Ahmad Shah in a statement issued to press said the disputed status of Jammu and Kashmir will not change with the emergence of BJP regime in India. “Narendra Modi cannot change the disputed status of Kashmir issue. This issue is not any law and order issue or any border dispute between India and Pakistan but an issue of right of self-determination of about 15 million people of Jammu and Kashmir which needs to get resolved as per UN resolutions or tripartite meaningful dialogue,” Shah while addressing the gathering said.Shah said if Modi government thinks that by abrogating Article 370, by inhabiting non-Kashmiri refugees in Kashmir and by making separate settlements for Kashmir Pandits, it can resolve the Kashmir issue under long term plan, then it (Modi Govt.) is living in a fool’s paradise. “Kashmiri nation is now politically mature enough to reply the occupational forces in the same coin. They can’t be enslaved under short or long term plans and will never let those elements succeed who are hell-bent upon changing the demography of the state,” Shah said. He also urged people not to vote those who are responsible for the killing of more than 5 lac Kashmiris. “Those who murdered our people are once again begging us for votes in the form of National Conference, Congress, PDP and other small parties and we should refrain from voting them to power,” Shah said.He appealed people to give the same befitting reply to pro-India parties as they did in recently concluded parliamentary elections. “You should once again teach these pro-India parties a lesson that we will not let anyone construct edifices on the sacred graves of our martyrs,” he said.Shabir Ahmad Shah said that it was the first prime minister of India Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru who by acknowledging the Kashmir as a dispute took the issue to UN Security Council. He said both India and UN are responsible for lingering of this longstanding dispute. “We even protest against the silence adopted by world nations with respect to Kashmir issue. The whole world is aware of the fact that India has promised to resolve the Kashmir issue as per the wishes and aspirations of its people and the whole world has acknowledged Kashmir as an international dispute for which 18 resolutions stand witness in the UN Security Council,” Shah said.HCJK and senior resistance leader further said: “We are in favor of friendly relations between India and Pakistan and believe that until or unless the core issue between both nations i.e. Kashmir issue is resolved, the peace in south Asia is a distant dream.” Commenting on the Israeli aggression in Gaza strip, Shabir Ahmad Shah lamented over the criminal silence adopted by Muslim countries in this regard. “There is a limit of tyranny and it seems that the last days of Israel are nearing,” he said. Meanwhile, HCJK spokesperson has severely condemned the continuous house arrest of pro-freedom leaders Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Shabir Ahmad Shah and Nayeem Ahmad Khan.
