Winds could occasionally gust over 50 mph. ----------------------------------------- Thousands of mid-Michigan residents were left without power on Sunday night after a storm blew through the area in the late afternoon. The late November storm caused around 20 tornados in neighboring states and put most of mid-Michigan under a sever thunderstorm warning as well a tornado watch. Areas near Shepherd and Clare suffered the most power loss because of high winds. Shepherd schools are closed today due to the power outage. CMS Energy Corp.s Consumers Energy unit reports more than 213,900 customers without service. ----------------------------------------- Mark Schauer says hell make raising the minimum wage a top priority as Michigan governor. The Democratic gubernatorial candidate is proposing to increase Michigans minimum wage from $7.40 an hour to $9.25 per hour over three years. After that, the wage would rise with inflation to protect earners purchasing power. Republican Gov. Rick Snyder hasnt embraced minimum wage hikes. His spokeswoman says while he hasnt taken a position, there could be unintended consequences like job losses. ------------------------------------------ Ben Roethlisberger passed for 367 yards and four touchdowns as the Pittsburgh Steelers rallied to beat the Detroit Lions 37-27 yesterday. Antonio Brown caught seven passes for 147 yards and two scores. Jordan Hill had career highs of 24 points and 17 rebounds in the Los Angeles Lakers 114-99 victory over the Detroit Pistons last night. Melvin Ejim scored 22 points as Iowa State beat No. 7 Michigan 77-70 yesterday. Ithaca and Beal City picked up wins on Saturday to advance to the semi-finals of the state football playoffs. The Yellowjackets will play Montrose Saturday at 1pm at Midland Community Stadium while the Aggies will play Crystal Falls Forest Park at the Superior Dome Saturday at 10am.
