***Monitoring Tropical Storm Chantal - Are You Prepared for the 2013 Hurricane Season?*** "Tropical Storm Chantal formed last night in the central Atlantic. Chantal has been slowly strengthening today as it moves quickly to the west-northwest at 25 mph. Current indications are that Chantal may approach the East Coast by this weekend. However, current forecast indicate that after some strengthening over the next few days, interactions with the mountainous terrain of Hispaniola and eastern Cuba, as well as some increased wind shear, should considerably weaken Chantal later this week. Even a weak Chantal will have to be closely monitored for its potential to further enhance rainfall and potential flooding along the Eastern Seaboard over the weekend into early next week. Conditions remain very wet from the recent rains, and it appears the southerly flow of tropical moisture may re-establish itself by the weekend."
