As stated within the latest MCA guidance form, the Ships Cook Assessment is necessary for all cooks/chefs on board commercial vessels with 10+ crew in order to obtain MCA Ships Cook Certificate. Those who already hold a minimum Level 2 NVQ Nationally recognised chef qualification or equivalent should check with their Captain as criteria applies, however your captain may require you to undertake the assessment.
