#MorningDevotion WHAT DO YOU HAVE? I love building stuff and because of that I love to watch home improvement or car overhaul shows where a team of experts comes in and tears a whole house down or they completely dismantle a car and then they redesign and begin to rebuild it giving it a new lease of life. That completely fascinates me! One of the things that gets my juices running when I watch these shows is the kind of tools that they use. These guys have all sorts of tools that do all sorts of things making the work so much easier and faster. They have a tool for everything you can think of, big or small and the amazing thing is that most if not all of these tools are powered. They are rarely manually operated. Exodus 4:2-5 (New International Version) Then the LORD said to him, What is that in your hand? A staff, he replied. The LORD said, Throw it on the ground. Moses threw it on the ground and it became a snake, and he ran from it.Then the LORD said to him, Reach out your hand and take it by the tail. So Moses reached out and took hold of the snake and it turned back into a staff in his hand. This, said the LORD, is so that they may believe that the LORD, the God of their fathers—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob—has appeared to you. I believe that each and every one of us is born with a tool in our hand, a tool that is specifically designed to fulfill our purpose. In the pursuit of our purpose I believe one of the first questions the Lord will ask you and I is… “What do you have in your hand?” So, do you know the tool that God has put in your hand? No one is born without a tool because each one has a God given purpose to fulfill and there is no way God would give you an assignment and not give you a power tool. It may be physical it may be intellectual it may be spiritual whatever it is; you need to know it because without it you will not fulfill your purpose Even as we consider that, I realized that there are manual tools and those that are powered. There are quite a number of people who are aware of their purpose and the tool that God has put in their hand but because they are not connected to God the source of power, they are using their tool manually. With a power saw you can bring down a huge tree in minutes and easily trim it into specific shapes and patterns. Try doing that with an axe! Yes you may get the job done but it may take you days and it will drain your strength making you miss other opportunities that may come your way. When you know the tool that God has placed in your hands and you are connected to the source of power you will do mighty things and the work will be easier and faster. You will do impossible things with a simple tool like turning a staff into a snake that swallows up other snakes, parting the red sea or killing a giant with a small stone Moses had his staff, David had his sling and music, Solomon had wisdom and riches, Samson had his hair and strength, Esther had her beauty and boldness, Nehemiah had the hands and burden to build, Paul had education and a pen and Jesus had His cross Everyone has something but it is your responsibility to discover what tool you have and then have it connected to the source of power. So what do you have in your hand?
