Most people only see my voice on here. Not many see what really goes on behind the scenes there at the hospital. So for just a glimpse in time, I think it wise to let you in to how just today went. I arrived at the hospital ready to walk into the ICU when I was stopped and told not to talk if she was asleep cause she had a rough night. I agreed and entered with caution only to find my mother waving me in to her side. Calming her down with Just one minute, and Ill be there soon! I hurriedly put on the proper attire. I entered the room to her breathing heavy and telling me to take her home. I cant momma, just calm down, it will be on. Through a gruff voice I hear No! Take me home! I try to calm her down and she falls asleep. I leave for about two hours to let her rest. The nurse comes back (not during visiting hours) and asks if someone can go back and calm her down because she keeps ripping off all her tubes and wires telling them they are snakes. I run back to a frantic mother and put back on the outfit. Its ok mom! I assure her as I pull a chair over and hold her weak hand. She mumbles something else and I sit there trying to understand the muttering. You want me to sing to you? I offer. She shakes her head yes. 20 minutes later she tells me to be quiet and tries to take off her wires again. You cant do that. She replies, Lisey, Im not! She falls back to sleep. Nurse enters and tells me thank you and I can leave now. I wake her up to say by and she gets a look of fear and tells me not to leave. I have to mom, Ill be back tomorrow!, Ok, I love you mom! She nods her head and falls back to sleep.
