Moyes sets Nani challenge David Moyes is striving to get Nani to produce his brilliant best on a consistent basis after the winger scored his first goal of the season as Manchester United beat Bayer Leverkusen 5-0 on Wednesday. The 27-year-old has really impressed the boss with his shooting ability in particular and is working hard to push for regular inclusion in the side after signing a new contract earlier in the season. After playing the full game in Germany, his first Champions League contribution of the campaign, the winger deservedly earned praise for his performance. I think what Ive seen from Nani is someone who is a talented player, a Portuguese international, and I hope we can try to get him to show that more often, explained Moyes. I thought there were moments when he ran the ball well for us in midweek and he scored a really good goal at the end. Were trying to give him the feeling that he is important and I think its something he himself needs - to get back to that consistency which gives him the reason to say: Im the man. I can do that job regularly. Look, what Ive found is he works hard enough at his game. He is happy to do all the leg work and the biggest thing is he has brilliant ability to score. His shooting with both feet is almost as good as anybody Ive ever seen. Hes incredibly talented with his skills and ability. We need to get him to show that more often. Nani will hope to keep his place against Tottenham, a side he has performed well against in the past after opening his United goal account in a win over the North Londoners in 2007.We think there is a chance he can go on and improve and we want to give him the opportunity, added the boss. You have to play well to get the opportunity and you have to be consistent when you get in as well. Its a little bit of both. With his style of play you have to accept skilful players are going to be a bit indifferent and have to wait for their moments. They are keen on showing you what they have got and, when it doesnt come off or work, it looks bad. Thats the balance you have got to get right. (Tyler)
