Mr. Arvind Kejriwal, you have been a constant topic of debate for - TopicsExpress

Mr. Arvind Kejriwal, you have been a constant topic of debate for the past many months. I have been witness to friends getting into heated discussions, arguments, sometimes over what you are and what you are projected as. This includes me, as well. I was a fervent supporter of the Anna Hazare Movement, watched innumerable interviews, read as much as I could, about this hurricane. I closely followed the events, the rallies, the anger, the yearning, the commitment, the resolve, the constant support that the common man gave you, their indomitable spirit that did not give in even when they were being beaten, slapped, arrested, kicked, attacked with water cannons. Young girls, women, children, old men; nobody was spared! But they were their, undeterred, incorrigible, fearless. Thats because all of us want freedom from this vicious circle of slavery, suppression, clampdown, asphyxiation- manslaughter! We, the common people were and are with you (Some, like me, are supporting you with a pinch of salt. But, Ill dwell on that later.) because in you, and the promises that you have made, we see a better tomorrow, a hope that helped us sustain, despite all the quelling and quashing of our dreams. If not for us, at least we want a bright future for our children, a place where they feel they are being taken care of. When my son, aged 7 comes and tells me to promise that I will give my vote in your favour, I wonder what must have prompted him to do that! Being an educator, Im surrounded by children all the time. The one thing that they have been chanting, discussing, canvassing is AAP Party. They might not know the meaning of it, but they do sense that here is somebody who can be trusted, who will address the daily rantings of their parents on some concepts that they cannot comprehend, but since, mum and dad say that this is a good guy, he is a good guy. Period. If not anything else, this makes one thing clear, if the message is loud and clear, it does have an impact. This young generation might be labelled as pub-hoppers, duck-faced, irresponsible, wayward and all things like that, but, they are aware, they can act, they can give the suppressors a run for their money (life, in some cases.). All they need is one good leader, and that they see in you. The hope and grit in their eyes and hearts have been infused by you, thanks. But, theres one thing that Im immensely worried about. Its not about you, not about the result of the elections and not even the failure to actually watch the transformation of our dreams into reality. It is the fear of broken promises, commitments that vanished into thin air, the covenant. Its about time to deliver now. If, as always, what we see is history repeating itself, hell might break. We cannot take it anymore. We cannot watch and endure being befooled, and that too in the name of trust, hope, faith. Inspite of all my doubts, Ill vote for you (maybe to prove to myself that I was right in believing that it was too good to be true!). Hopefully, Ill be proved otherwise. Human spirit, you see is always attracted to anything that promises harmony. The need, the longing for happiness is so strong, so deeply ingrained in us that we take the most risky, drastic and impulsive decisions. Ill be taking one, but I hope it turns out to be the best one for all of us. I request you on behalf of all of us, which includes children, please dont let this hope die. Please dont make the kids believe that promises are meant to be broken, that everybody is a liar, that their parents are bad judges of situations and people. Make them believe, let them believe. I hope this message reaches you and all those whose behalf Im writing on. Thank you.
