Mr. Martinez... I say this with all due respect and heartfelt condolences for your excruciatingly painful loss... If I (as a law abiding gun owner and concealed carry permit holder) could jump in a time machine and go anywhere this moment, it would be Saturday, 24 May, 2014 to Isla Vista CA. to get between your son and this spoiled, depraved, craven piece of narcissistic crap who so callously murdered him... I mean that sincerely as a father (of three beautiful daughters who would have no doubt been targets of this scumbag) and a fellow human being...While my heart aches for your pain and loss, I am nonetheless compelled to inform you the blame for this needless act of pure evil does not lie with a gun, the NRA (or their advocacy of my fundamental God given right and RESPONSIBILITY to protect myself, my family and my property), or the pro 2nd Amendment politicians who stand with us... Sir, the responsibility for this outrage rests solely and squarely with a deranged sociopath who made a conscious and premeditated choice to take 3 different inanimate objects ( a knife, a car and a handgun) and wantonly perpetrate his evil on your son and 5 others.. Sir, once again (with all due respect and sympathy) I would also add that if we are in fact going to point the finger at politicians, I am curious what your reaction would be (if I was in fact able to time travel) towards the politicians in YOUR STATE who would no doubt have me arrested and charged for saving your son since my Florida CCW permit (and thus my 2nd amendment right) isnt recognized in California...?? (My Florida permit is however, recognized in 40 other states)... Would you then step up to defend me and advocate for my release??? Would you still be this outraged at the NRA and pro-constitution politicians?? After viewing the horrific convenience store footage of your son being gunned down I couldnt help but notice the young lady dialing 911... Who knows how different this might have turned out if she and a couple of others in the store were armed with guns instead of cell phones...As a footnote, since this spoiled little cretin killed his first three victims with a knife and not a gun, I am a bit curious as to what really is in fact the common denominator in this situation... Something to consider as you allow yourself and the horrendous grief you are experiencing to be used, manipulated and exploited by these soulless bastards in the media for the sake of their anti freedom, anti liberty agenda... I and my fellow law abiding gun owning citizens are not the reason your son is dead... Once again my heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with you sir... That said, while I grieve with you, your tragedy does not give you or your extremely misguided allies in the government and media license or justification to deprive me of my right to do what I can to prevent a similar tragedy in the future...
