Much of the area is under a Winter Weather Advisory until 1pm Tuesday. Light snow will begin falling around western Virginia and western Maryland starting around 4am. Snow will continue to fall through the morning rush and may fall at a moderate rate briefly with reduced visibilities. This will be a fine powdery type of snow and will make roads slick in areas. Watch your speed and distance in between the car in front of you. After noon Tuesday, just occasional snow showers with increasing wind late. Snow fall totals will range from a light coating across southern Maryland to 1 inch in DC and 2 inches well north and west. A bigger deal than the snow will be the very cold air that follows. Afternoon temperatures Wednesday and Thursday will be between 25 and 30. Windchills Wednesday will start out in the single digits, while Thursday morning will start sub zero.
