Mud flows from Mount Shasta Glacier Breakoff - Warning issued A glacier has broken on Mount Shasta releasing large quantities of mud, rocks and water. This has caused flash-flooding in Mud Creek and Pilgrim Creek, according the the Medford, Ore. National Weather Service, which issued a new Flash Flood Warning and Watch at 4:43 a.m. The Warning is in effect until 10:45 a.m today, Sunday. The flood watch is in effect until Sunday afternoon. California Highway Patrol reported that flooding had occurred at Forest Service Road 31, known as Winding Way, and Forest Service Road 13, known as Pilgrim Creek Road. Both Roads are closed. Flood waters are moving down Mud Creek and Pilgrim Creek from mid-way up Mount Shasta to just North of Highway 89, where waters are currently dammed, according to the National Weather Service. Water continues to accumulate upstream behind the debris flow and may break free and flow downstream at any time, the National Weather Service states in its warning.
