My Birthday, The Morning After Sermon. Ahem. Unaccustomed as I am to written proclamations, I would like to take this opportunity to direct a few thousand words to those who remembered it was my birthday yesterday as well as those who stumbled across this information on Facebook, and stopped by to send an “atta boy”, although I did nothing more substantial than remain in corpus for another year. I would also like to address those who sent glad tidings through other forums, those who forgot, those who could not be bothered and the rest of you people who could not care less. You know who you are. Oh! And to Mom and dear, departed Dad who conceived and agreed to sustain me, though how they could have possibly accomplished this miracle eludes me entirely. A special shout out to the Giggle Fairies, Rib and Tickle, who made this trope necessary. Growing older is not a choice! I repeat, growing older is not a choice! (There is no particular reason to repeat that sentence. I just like to hear myself type). Worse still, we arrive with an expiration date that is so top secret you cannot even access it on Facebook, where all true secrets go to be revealed. I have protested these facts of life to The All-Mighty Powers, Mickey Mantle, Roy Rogers and Lamb Chop. They advised me to stoop a little lower when I walk, stop blaming others for clogging the shower drain with hair and otherwise, get on the train. That is the last time I implore those false idols. Bereft of any insights or pearls and left still lugging these brittle bones inside this loose sack o skin, I gotta keep movin em towards the endgame and so, I conclude today’s sermon by saying unto those who sent birthday greetings, thanks a sincere and true bunch. No joke. To those who forgot, bet I’ve done it to you more times than you’ve done it to me. As for the rest of you people around the globe and throughout the whole wide universe who could not be bothered or care less that yesterday was MY BIRTHDAY!!! – I’m taking names.
