My Momma always told me the same thing, time and time again. Get an education and be somebody. What do I honestly tell mine? If you want a higher education from a reputable institution, you are rolling a heavy rock up a steep hill. You will encounter hunger, deprivation, opposition from some ugly legacy students, and you will emerge with a diploma. You will acquire an enormous debt, a gift that keeps on giving. This debt will earn exorbitant interest, and will result in a pack of sorry assed trolls chasing you with phone calls, letters, attachments, levies, judges, marshals, and rejected loan applications. The debt will not be dischargeable as other debts are. You will be a well-spoken indentured servant. You wont be somebody. You will be a less than person who ranks in caste above the homeless panhandler, convicted felon, elderly pensioner, disabled veteran, and blacks of all classes. You will be less than, and beholden to, all police officers, collection agents, bankers, government officials elected or appointed, rich people, corporate boards, CEOs, property owners, licensed gun owners, and Republicans. Hell, just go to another country and be somebody. Or turn to a life of crime and serve as political consultant to the Republican candidate of your choosing.
