My Open Letter To Commissioner Henares (This is inspired by the movie of one of CSR Philippines’ Trustees, Dingdong Dantes, called “Dance of the Steel Bars,” which is about redemption.) Dear Commissioner Henares, Thank you for joining us at the Tax Forum at the Ateneo Graduate School of Business last March 14, 2013 to discuss the impact of our tax system in the country. Your presence made a lot of difference as we felt your sincere commitment in doing what is right, in making us pay taxes correctly. Before the forum began, you asked me why I resigned from BIR. I told you I didn’t fit in the “system”, but my firsthand experience helped me understand the problem better and enabled me to work on strategic options that will promote honesty amongst taxpayers and tax collectors.
