My heart attack pains explained... I had all the heart tests, monitors, anxiety tests, chest xrays to check for blood clots as this was recurring, and often will make me actually yell, or almost drop to the ground its that intense.... non-cardiac chest pain that is likely caused by myofascial trigger points in the pectoralis muscles (there is a minor and major - two muscles that work together). Many patients feel like they are having a heart attack because the chest pain can be intense and even shoot pain down the arm on the affected side. The reason for why these two pectoralis muscles can cause so much intense pain is because the major nerves that leave your spinal cord near the neck region and travel down your arm get pinched. When your pectoralis muscles become tight (usually due to myofascial trigger points), they squeeze the nerves that must pass under them near the arm pit area. Mine has always been on the left side with the exception of one time.
