My, how times change. I remember Nixon resigning among outrage of his wiretapping the Democratic Party Headquarters. In the eyes of Congress and America as a whole, he had overreached his power, using that power to that which was reprehensible by wire-tapping the Democratic Party Headquarters. Powerful men have always had and always will have a propensity to overreach and miss-use their power. The Constitution and Bill of Rights was written to restrain this aspect of human nature. What is amazing to me is not that powerful men over-reach, it is the lack of outrage among our country’s citizens at our government’s over-reaching and miss-use of power. I encourage all of us to google Nixon’s resignation speech, Nixon thought he was doing what was best for the country. So did Bush, so does Obama. Then re-read the Bill of Rights and compare that to the current scandals. Is there a trend here?
