My mind goes back to the day before Thanksgiving three years ago ! It was cold and about to get much colder. Mom was on her 98th day in the hospital !! The Doctors had said that Mom should go to the nursing home...and her time was up for staying in the hospital. Dad said When I was 16 years old I said for better or worse ....we are going home. So in a mad dash to beat a winter storm....we headed home. Dad and I were lost as we could be. We didnt have a clue on how to take care of her. But through trial and error... with the help of Jackie Ray and our kids....we went to work. And thank goodness Mom doesnt remember a lot of what happened....WHEW !! Because it didnt always go so smooth...but we tried. Now here we are 3 years later and we have had lots of peaks and valleys ...with more to come Im sure ..but we are still hanging in there and in some ways even though it is a different life...we have had some hard memories...sad memories...and good memories...BUT they are memories. So with all of this in mind....I am so thankful for my husband and kids for their help and having my back....I am thankful for the doctors and nurses....I am so thankful to have my Mom .....AND....I am so very thankful for my dad...He never gives up...he never takes no for an answer...and he has shown my family what true commitment really is ! So some may say our lives have been hard the last three years... and yes they have been...but what joy and what good lessons we have also had...So for this I am thankful.
