My take? Anyone who knows me or this page knows I live, breath, die Rays baseball. This trade looks ugly. Yet, it will probably end up ok. The minute we signed Cabrera, it was clear Escobar was gone. And if you remember, he wasnt the most liked guy in the clubhouse toward the end of last season. Ben, is in the last year of his contract. He is 33. He was going to make 8 mill. This was clearly a salary dump. We have dumped a TON of salary in the off-season...and still got a nice prospect. My only beef is Robertson. Yes, he was the As top prospect, but we already got Adames..who was the top SS prospect in the system. (Price deal) My guess is, their hope is they move Adames to 2nd, and hope Robertson is SS, or vice-versa. Years away, of course, but thats probably theyre thinking.
