My talk on Ensuring the rights of Migrant worker in South Asia in - TopicsExpress

My talk on Ensuring the rights of Migrant worker in South Asia in International Conference at Shillong well received by the participants. The major point of my talk was: - Stop commodificatrion of Migrant workers. They are human being and not a commodity. So, they deserve rights and dignity. - Both the receiving and country of orgin are benefiting from their hard work and creativity. So, both have responsiblity towards them. - The plight of Migrant workers should not go unnoticed. - There is legal and policy vaccum in all the South Asian nations regarding legal protection of Migrant workers. The SAARC should also come forward and adopt some mechanism regarding the protection of Migrant rights. - The huge number of Migration is taking place within and outside of South asian nations. All the South Asian Nations are beneficiary of remittance economy but there is total lack of political will to stop the the plight and exploitation of migrant workeres. - Migrant rights are human rights and they deserve rights, dignity and equality. There shall be no discrimination. - It is high time that South Asian Civil society make a meaningful intervention to stop their plight.
