My thoughts from the finals tonight! 12. Crossmen- loved the show, vintage drum corps! 11. Madison Scouts- Loved the Don Ellis! 10. Boston - ugh! Visually dirty..thumbing their nose at the G7 and the talcum powder thing was low rent! 9. Blue Stars- great concept loved the homage to their past. FCO! 8. Phantom - gorgeous rendition of Swan lake! Stunning Guard as always KC Michael 7. Blue Knights - one of my favorite show concepts. Best BK ever. Enjoyed every second! 6. Cavaliers - havent really cared for them for several years, loved the marimba section! 5. Crown - WTF how can this be 5th place! Yeah, yeah..percussion, but this hornline more than makes up for any weaknesses! 4. SCV - JD Shaw and Paul Rennick, you are GODS! 3. Bluecoats - my favorite show of the summer! So innovative, yet crowd friendly! 2. Cadets - stunning execution, left me cold somehow, not sure why..meh 1. Blue Devils - have you ever seen a Felini film? For connoisseurs is is amazing and transcendent in its imagery. But for the general public, it seems to be a pretentious in your face, look at how smart I am type affair. I think the technical execution is unbelievable and beyond reproach, but do you do drum corps for the judges, who obviously love them, or for the fans? Sigh.....
