My wife and I had the joy of travelling from home here in Northern - TopicsExpress

My wife and I had the joy of travelling from home here in Northern Ireland (Ulster) to Appalachia on our honeymoon 17 years ago. We live close to where emigrant ship Eagle Wing set sail in September 1636 and so our heritage has had 4 centuries of transAtlantic connections. We started in DC and spent 2 weeks travelling through Virginia, East Kentucky and Tennessee. We then went back 7 years later with my parents, starting in Atlanta, and visiting North Carolina and Tennessee again. We felt so at home! Appalachia and its people has left an indelible impression on us, and we hope to visit again (this time with 3 children!). Wishing all of our Scotch-Irish kinsfolk a wonderful Christmas and New Year.
