NBA ELECTIONS: THE ROAD TO PHILLIPPI; 8 DAYS TO GO. UNFOLDING THE ALEGEH EPISTLE (PT 5) HEAR THIS! NATIONAL EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE (NEC) 1. All NBA recognized Sections and Fora shall have NEC Representation. 2. Reports from Branches and written proposals from NEC members shall be given priority at all NEC meetings. 3. NBA Representatives to any Board, Commission, Committee or other Body shall present periodic reports to NEC. 4. NEC Members shall vote where there is absence of consensus on any issue. 5. All NEC decisions will be made available on the NBA website. NBA REPRESENTATIVES 1. All appointments as NBA Representative on any Board, Commission, Committee or other Body to be made in consultation with Branches and stakeholders. 2. Equitable spread of NBA representation amongst Branches. 3. All NBA representatives to present regular reports to NEC NBA SECTIONS AND FORA 1. Creation of synergy between NBA Sections, Fora and NEC. 2. Harmonize programs of the various Sections and fora. 3. Encourage membership of at least one section by members 4. Propose creation of additional Sections and Fora ELECTORAL REFORM 1. Propose amendments of NBA constitution to enable introduction of Electronic Voting at NBA National Elections. CONTINUING LEGAL EDUCATION (CLE) 1. Minimum of one CLE program by each geo-political zone of the Country branch and/or group of Branches quarterly. 2. Introduce mentorship support for junior Lawyers. 3. Active collaboration with other Bar Associations/Law Societies leveraging on NBA reputation to provide CLE in the following areas: a. Entertainment Law b. Sports Law and Sports Injury Law. c. Electricity Law d. Consumer Protection Law e. Anti-Corruption Law F. Cyber Law DISCIPLINE 1. Strengthening NBA team at the LPDC 2. Introducing Proactive and Preventive measures aimed at reducing infractions by Lawyers. 3. Pursuing an aggressive Awareness Campaign to draw attention and remind members of compliance and infraction issues. 4. To introduce self-regulation of the legal profession by NBA as part of the disciplinary mechanism. The above are simple practical and all inclusive programs that will leap-frog the Bar into the real time. There is something for everyone.
