NEVER ENDING ACTS OF CRUELTY..... GRIFFIN is just a baby....approx 10/11months old.....found standing on the road by a Gspca staff member two days ago.He was unable to walk so she carried him to her car and bought him to Heathlawn.Mentally shut down,Griffin lay in his open crate, refusing to eat and unwilling to move so he went straight to our vets.Initially we thought his hip/pelvis was broken maybe due to a collision with a car but NO....Griffin has broken toes on THREE of his feet.....broken by either being stamped on or hit with a tool such as a hammer....whatever the cause it was done ON PURPOSE!!! Whether for the amusement or because he was proving no good for hunting or simply because they can and do.....Finding animals in states of emaciation/road accidents/neglect is noithing new to staff here at Gspca and all the rescues in Ireland BUT when you get one who has purposely been abused then it makes you wonder.....Will it ever stop?...Will we ever see an end to misery and suffering....We have just nursed Belvedere, Ozzie,Oliver and Faith(to mention a few) back to health, weeks of hard, dedicated work by our staff and vets and now Griffin.....Yes its our duty, its what we were born to do,its what we Love to do,we wouldnt change our jobs for the world but there are times its soul destroying....there are times you think you are fighting a losing battle against those who enjoy causing such pain to innocents ...everyday rescues across Ireland are posting stories of horrific abuse...Its 2014..Acts of Cruelty must NOT be tolerated.Rescues cannot be everywhere, cannot find space or funds for every dog/cat/horse that have been neglected.Thats why for every rescue like ours its so important and heart warming to have the support of YOU ...the general public.People who adopt/foster/donate/give bedding/food/toys.....Also those who stand up and condone such cruelty, who comment and share our stories...who are not afaird to intervene or report neglect/cruelty.This weekwe saved Griffin....One Dog out of the hundreds who are suffering out there....but to Griffin,we have made a difference and for that we are grateful.
