NEWS HEADLINES Osun lawmakers poised for a showdown with Aregbesola TRIBUNE : 09.Dec.2014 Festering crisis rocking the Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) over screening aspirants for elective offices ,ahead the 2015 general election, took a new turn on Monday, as some of the lawmakers in the state legislature were set for a showdown with Governor Rauf Aregbesola. Nigerian Tribune reliably gathered that 15 out of the 26 legislators, who had been edged out in their bid to seek a return in 2015 had already commenced compilation of list of impeachable offences against the governor. They were said to have accused Aregebesola and the newly-elected state chairman of the APC, Mr Gboyega Famodun, of allegedly manipulating the list of aspirants for the House of Assembly to the detriment of their ambition to seek re-election. But, the APC’s director of publicity, research and strategy in Osun, Mr Kunle Oyatomi, said there was no attempt by the governor and the leadership of the party to impose any candidate. He said: “there is nothing like imposition. Aregbesola is a democrat and will not wish away the people’s choice. The APC is looking carefully to present the best qualified, credible and popular candidate.”
