NIELS BIJL ON TOUR On 16 January the Consulate-General organised a solo tenor sax concert by the Dutch musician Niels Bijl. A surprisingly big audience enjoyed this a lot in the Sydney Goethe Institute. Niels Bijl played pieces by Thelemann, Folkert Buis, Jabra Latham, Jan Menu, Martin Kay, Ronald Moelker and Ruud Ouwehand. Besides he gave the world première of Megalania, composed by Nicholas Rusoniello who was present as well. Consul Evert Brongers explained that the saxophone is an instrument designed by the Belgian Adolphe Sax in the years before 1846.
