NIGERIANS ARE LEARNING ESPECIALLY NIGERIAN YOuths, Impeachment: Lawmakers return to Nasarawa, resolve to petition NJC over CJ - We don’t want to match violence with violence – Majority Leader - There was no session notification – Minority Leader - It’s of no effect – Al-Makura’s lawyer One full month after they relocated from Nasarawa State, to Abuja where they have been staying since the impeachment proceedings they initiated on July 14, the 20 members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), returned today and sat for a brief plenary session where they resolved to petition the National Judicial Council (NJC) over the action of the state Chief Judge which they described as “dubious.” Eighteen of the 20 PDP lawmakers showed up for the plenary session which lasted about 17 minutes, beginning from 10:40, to 11:07, and were joined by their All Progressives Congress (APC) member and House Minority Leader, Tanko Maikatako, who sat through the session without making a comment on the proceedings of the day. The 18 lawmakers arrived Lafia, the state capital, in a long motorcade which drove under tight security provided by truckloads of armed policemen, at about past 9am. They alighted from their vehicles to head straight into the Office of the Speaker where they remained till about 10:35 when they began to file into the chambers. The members who sat are: Musa Ahmed Mohammed (PDP, Nasarawa-Central), who is also the speaker, Elisha Agwadu (PDP, Obi II), Mohammed Sidi Bako (Obi I), Philip Gyunka (PDP, Akwanga-South), Peter Mbucho (PDP, Akwanga-North), Dogara Saaka (PDP, Kokona-East), Tahir Alayi (PDP, Karshi/Uke), Mohammede Baba Ibaku (PDP, Udege/Loko), Yahaya Usman Ohinoyi (PDP, Umaisha/Ogya), Anthony Obande (PDP, Doma-South). Others are: Godiya Akwashiki (PDP, Nasarawa-Eggon-West), and Mohammed Muluku (PDP, Nasaraw-Eggon-East), Francis Orogu (PDP, Keana), Tanko Maikatako (APC, Lafia-Central), Mohammed Okpede (PDP, Doma-North), Abdulkareem Usman (PDP, Wamba), Madaki Ada Goje (PDP, Toto/Gadabuke), Babawi Bulus Chetubo (PDP, Karu/Jitata), Nathaniel Agyiomesa (APC, Lafia-North), Ibrahim Bala (APC, Keffi-West), Danladi Jatau (PDP, Kokona-West), Othman Bala Adam (APC, Keffi-East), Aliyu Umar (PDP, Awe-South) and Tanko Tunga (APC, Awe North) were not present in the chambers, although some of them latter showed up after the house adjourned by 11:07am. The members passed one motion and a resolution. The motion directed the Clerk of the House to write the NJC within 24 hours of sitting, to cause disciplinary actions to be taken against the CJ, Justice Suleiman Dikko because he appointed a panel made up of unsuitable persons to investigate the 16-count charges of gross misconduct brought before him by the House.
