NOTE TO OUR FACEBOOK FRIENDS Our community of sports-loving readers is growing rapidly and to this we would like to say “Thank You” to everyone. We at SPIN.ph hope to encourage and promote the beauty of sports. We also believe that every fan should have a voice in the conversation - the reason weve been giving way to letters from fans from time to time. We recognize that sports fans come from different backgrounds: age, race, gender, religious belief and affiliation. If there is one thing we have in common, it is our love for the teams, the athletes and the games themselves. Unfortunately, in the heat of the moment some of us think that being a fan gives us the right to say whatever we want and to anyone we want to say it to. Yes, we can be passionate in supporting our team but it does not give us the right to be rude. We live in a democratic society but there are rules we should follow. We can all agree and we can also disagree without resorting to using harsh words and childish name-calling. Therefore, we will now be more strict in enforcing our policy against the use of profanity and offensive language on the SPIN.ph website and Facebook page. The practice of trolling will also be prohibited. Starting today, we will also implement a ‘one-strike policy’ on violators. Even though we are online, whatever we share in our posts is a reflection of our character, education and personality, whether we are anonymous or using our real identity. Let’s stay true to the ideals of sports and sportsmanship, folks. And we hope you dear readers can help us make our pages and social sites a pleasant and enjoyable reading experience for everyone, regardless of who they cheer for.
