NOTES FROM THE ROAD: NEW BEGINNINGS We are told to embrace failure as part of success and that every rejection is taking you one step closer to your desired lifestyle. While this is easy to understand it’s also harder to implement because deep down inside we are scared of failing and being judged. Who wants to fail anyways? We are scared that all the time and money we invested into that career, relationship, or project turns into waste. But…..does it really have to? What if we turned all this “waste” into powerful lessons to propel us forward? What if we used intentional experimentation to get to know ourselves on a deeper level? Would that be considered a waste? Not if it’s taking you closer to where you want to be. These past 6 months haven been all about spending time with family and getting to know myself better. Asking myself better questions to get better answers. The good, the bad, and what can be improved. Spending time in Nicaragua with my family really made me realize how important they are to me, how much they love me, and how I’ve missed them. It also made me realize a boatload of things I need to improve upon. But life it’s constant improvement, wouldn’t you agree? There were days where I’d lie in bed all day, drapes closed, day sliding into night and back to day, not wanting to deal with stuff and questioning my ability to rise above. It happens and we all have those days or period of times where moving a finger just seems so damn hard. Until you have enough. Until you decide it’s time to rise above and love yourself because no one else will unless you do. Until you decide to more “zero days” The most challenging choice we have is figuring out our purpose in life and sometimes, when everything seems to be falling apart the best thing to do is to take a step back and go on a retreat with ourselves to figure it out; a retreat with no time limits or restrictions where you are free to roam around and experiment until you find your one thing. It could take 3, 6, 8, 12 months. Everyone is different. It doesn’t matter. What matters is spending the necessary amount of time finding ourselves. New beginnings are always exciting and full of opportunities. Love yourself and be open to serendipity, somehow, it already knows where you want to go. -Inspired by a cup of coffee at Starbucks on this beautiful Sunday morning in Florida.
