#NUTSHELL – DECEMBER 30th — MOVE…DO SOMETHING – 2 Peter 1:3: “An object at rest tends to stay at rest and an object in motion tends to stay in motion…unless compelled to change by the action of an external force.” – Newton’s First Law of Motion Do you know anybody who is a “Couch Potato?” You know the type…individuals who are seldom motivated to make anything happen. Life simply moves at its own pace and that pace is typically much faster than they are willing to go. To a more driven personality, it often prompts a response that goes something like…”Will you get off of the couch and just do something…anything!” As frustrating as it may be dealing with a “Couch Potato” personality, consider how much more it must be for an Almighty God…The sad truth is, we are guilty of being “Spiritual Couch Potatoes” much more than we care to admit. For any transformation to be a success there has to be a specific agenda, that aligns certain objectives with its core purpose. We are no different, as Christ Followers we need priorities. God desires each of us to be intentional in our efforts for Him. We were designed for spiritual change, “Goal Oriented Believers.” Our human inclination is to set physical goals; position, possessions, prestige, etc. and in doing so we prioritize our lives to meet those goals. But as Spiritual beings God desires us to have spiritual goals, things that better shape and define us in the image of our Savior. (2 Peter 1:3) “As we know Jesus better, His divine power gives us everything we need for living a Godly life. He has called us to receive His own glory and goodness! Even in and through the difficulties and trials that we’ll all face in this world, God wants to do good things in your life.” Let this be our prayer in 2015 that God would grant us a “dream,” a vision of the kind of Christian that He desires us become.
