NYTimes- A year after Seattles mega-tunnel project stalled when the state-of-the-art boring machine failed only 10% of the way through the job, historic buildings are settling and cracking. A whole block just went down an inch. After a year of delays, projects managers may have to abandon the current boring machine rescue plan if damages continue. Needless to say - there are lots of unforeseen problems in tunnel projects, and the costs only go up. We think this is another reason Baltimore should not build the Red Lines downtown tunnel and instead move forward with more affordable, more connected solutions. - The Right Rail Coalition
