I have been to Acre (Now Akko), Ramallah, East Jerusalem of course, the Negev, Haifa, Jaffa, Caesaria -- what is astonishing is what has been erased….the complexity and the wealth and the cultured nature of it ..leaving no trace of this -- the level of sophistication of this pre-1948 multiethnic society shown in these images -- colleges, universities, musical groups, symphonies, elites and society weddings, photography studios, football matches, religious conferences, Greek Orthodox Muslim Jewish ancient and secular…movie theaters…and truly multiethnic as you can see the different faces….what is lost/wiped out is astonishing -- it is a whole sophisticated modern multiethnic civilization...I mean the fact that there were TWO major elite girls private schools in JERICHO which is today barely hanging in there in terms of an economy and a civil society -- even in Ramallah so many of these civil society groups today just dont exist..cant….the thriving arts and cultural life…the rich educational institutions….theatres and concert halls...all are gone….vanished without a trace and we are told there were sand dunes…it is lies upon lies beyond lies.
