Nearly eighteen centuries after the Plague of Cyprian, - TopicsExpress

Nearly eighteen centuries after the Plague of Cyprian, Christianity still prompts people to run towards the plague when virtually everyone else is running away. ~ Eric Metaxas Whenever an event or crisis hits the news, I always ask myself, How as we are Christians to respond? If you take your faith seriously, as I do, you realize that everything you say and do reflects on our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and you should, as the ushers at Mount Calvary Baptist Church used to say to us, govern yourselves accordingly. Ive followed the reaction to the Ebola crisis and have largely stayed away from it because I dont think it honors Christ to sensationalize it or politicize it. I do believe it warrants compassion, and that is what makes what our missionaries in Africa are doing so heartening. I have spoken often of how the early Christians in Rome were so charitable and self-sacrificing that they frustrated the Roman leaders who wanted to lead their people back to the pagan gods of old, and that is the kind of church we ought to be, and not because it frustrates others. We seek the nations for Christ, but history tells us that our greatest weapon in achieving that objective is love.
