New York Musings #5: The Pearl Studios My daughter Ellas - TopicsExpress

New York Musings #5: The Pearl Studios My daughter Ellas summer intensive ballet course is located supposedly downtown near the Greenwich Village. But I believe during summer they have more enrollees coming in from all over so they find an alternative studio for the additional classes and students. Ella for the past two weeks have been assigned to this address: 500 8th Ave., between 34th and 36th Sts. I just like the address because it is in the center of everything: Penn station, shops (again) all around, walking distance or one subway stop away from Times Square and 42nd St. The norm is, I Leave with her in the morning to take the subway to her classes, then see that she has lunch, etc... then go off somewhere to see New York and comeback later in the day. But, curious by nature, on her second day, I see lines of people on the floor where her studio is at. So instead of wandering off, I sat and observed. If at that point I still wondered where I was and what this city means to people aspiring to become what they dreamed of, then before me was an affirmation of what this city is: ... concrete jungle where dreams are made of, theres nothing you cant do... if I could make it here,I can make it anywhere... These people I see everyday in the building where we are at, people of all race, age, genders and size, are people auditioning for parts for Broadway musicals, theater plays, TV shows, even up coming movies. The two blue screens by the wall as you enter the floor is a guide to those who arrive to pursue their dream and find their luck and lead them to the floor and room where their destiny awaits. Isnt that surreal in a way?? Sense and Sensibilities, Pippin, Les Miserables, High School Musical, First Wives Clubs. etc, etc, etc.... WHATS YOUR DREAM????!!!! I love Manhattan!
