News Flash ! Good afternoon EMO Executives, As of the BWS 11:30am forecast and the noon NHC advisory Hurricane Gonzalo, is now a THREAT to Bermuda. This is a RED impact event… This system is reminiscent of FABIAN as it is now forecast to reach Cat 4 before it makes that turn when joining the front then gradually deteriorate in intensity - but still cross over Bermuda as a Cat 3 or very strong Cat 2 Hurricane. Consider this track a direct impactas damaging winds will extend far from the center on the order of over 100nm. Do not focus on the center dot! I strongly advise all preparations to be met by Thursday afternoon latest, in advance of the winds increasing to tropical storm force Thurs night. NOTE: winds will increase in association with the isolated showers forecast on Thursday as well. I strongly advise a text message notification be sent out to the public advising of the THREAT and that preparations are to be completed by Thurs afternoon and to remind them to keep updated by checking forecasts on weather.bm Seas will become dangerous as early as Wed afternoon/night. The forecast calls for a peak of 30ft on Friday, from this direction South Shore and Eastern shores will be most vulnerable to begin with until the switch of swell & wave direction after the passage. Here is the detailed marine forecast weather.bm/forecastmarineextended.asp Kind regards, Kimberley Zuill BAS-Serco Ltd. Director, Bermuda Weather Service
