News Update on "TYPHOON GORIO" as of 11:00 P.M. Weather Bulletin Number NINE Tropical Cyclone Warning: Tropical Storm "GORIO" Issued at 11:00 p.m., Saturday, 29 June 2013 Tropical Storm "GORIO" has maintained its strength as it moves in a west northwest direction. Location of Center: (as of 10:00 p.m.) 60 km Northeast of Calapan, Oriental Mindoro Coordinates: 13.6°N, 121.6°E Strength: Maximum winds of 65 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph Movement: West Northwest at 24 kph Forecast Positions/Outlook: Sunday evening: 350 km Northwest of Metro Manila Monday evening: 870 km Northwest of Metro Manila and out of the Philippine Area of Responsibity (PAR). Areas Having Public Storm Warning Signal PSWS # Signal No. 2 (61-100 kph winds) Metro Manila Pangasinan Tarlac Zambales Nueva Ecija Pampanga Bulacan Rizal Bataan Cavite Laguna Batangas Mindoro Provinces Lubang Island Romblon Marinduque Quezon Province Camarines Provinces Albay Burias Island Signal No. 1 (45-60 kph winds) La Union Benguet Nueva Vizcaya Quirino Aurora Polilio Island Catanduanes Sorsogon Masbate Ticao Island Coron Island Calamian Group of Islands Capiz Aklan Antique Public Storm Warning Signals elsewhere are now lowered. Residents in low lying and mountainous areas under signals #2 & #1 are alerted against possible flashfloods and landslides. Likewise, those living in coastal areas are alerted against big waves or storm surges generated by this tropical cyclone. Estimated rainfall amount is from 5 - 15 mm per hour (moderate - heavy) within the 300 km diameter of the Tropical Storm. The public and the disaster coordinating councils concerned are advised to take appropriate actions and watch for the next bulletin to be issued at 5 AM tomorrow.
